Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
“You don’t want to dance?” Tern asked, not as surprised as he looked, “But that’s one of the main points of the festival! How can you not?” As he spoke, Tern pranced another circle around Ridge, twirling as he went. “Had I known you were so opposed to it, I wouldn’t have toiled over teaching you.” Tern lifted his hand to his brow, a motion of exhaustion, posture sagging with fatigue
But Tern moved his hand away and righted himself, standing in a more comfortable position. “It’s okay, Ridge,” he said kindly, “You don’t have to dance. I’ll get you to one day. However, if you do not like my way of giving the gifts, you must teach me yours. That’s the deal.”

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Brooksong was surprised at the sharpness of the sea elf's gaze when he looked at her. She swallowed the bit of stew she had in her mouth so as to not be rude when she spoke.
"Fair winds and tides" she said with a smile in greeting to him, but got the feeling she should not say much more than that. Though she wanted to ask him what he recommended to try food wise and glanced down at the table at the other foods since her bowl was now empty. She had only taken a little of the stew to try it and was feeling adventurous to try some other new food.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
"It's not that I don't want to dance, I just never learned," Ridge muttered defensively. He'd never learned how to dance because it didn't seem relevant. He'd never even given thought to learning how. He turned away from Tern and took a couple paces away as though he weren't going to listen to him anymore, but threw a glance over his shoulder with an impish grin. "You could always teach me."
He turned fully to face Tern and said, "I'll teach you how we give gifts if you'll teach me how to dance."
--
Serpent Fang watched Brooksong as she approached him. She didn't display any signs of aggression, in fact she smiled warmly at him. Her greeting was polite and friendly. He wasn't used to such a friendly greeting, not even from his own tribesmen. The reclusive sea-elf said nothing, still watching her through narrowed eyes. He inclined his chin in greeting after a moment.
*Fair winds and tides,* Serpent Fang finally sent. He noted the bowl in Brooksong's hands and selected one of the cooked scallops. He dropped it into the empty bowl in her hands.

Kai smiled at the Brooksong. "I am enjoying the festival. I hope that you are too." She smiled but soon noticed that the younger elf's attention was on a SeaElf that had started towards the tables of food. Quietly the High One slipped away.
She found her self being talked about around Tidemist and she made her way over to the small but growing grow. "What are you promising of me now, Tidemist?" Kai asked her eyes bright and smiling. "I do hope it's something I can manage well enough."
Kai smiled at the gathered elves and hoped they didn't find her presence in the group intimidating, last she wanted was to halt the flow of conversation.

“I’ll try to teach you,” Tern said slowly, “Though it will be no easy task.” Tern scratched his head, wondering where to begin. “And you want to learn now?” He returned his hand to his side and continued on, “I suppose you want to learn to accompany a partner, and not do it by yourself?”
Tern’s forehead creased. He had no problem teaching his new friend, but he had no idea how he would. Dancing just seemed to come natural to a lot of elves. Many of his tribemates had been doing it since they were young.
In Tern’s opinion, you could never truly make the best of celebrations unless you danced, so he had to teach Ridge, no matter what it took.

"I'd like to learn 'to accompany a partner', as you say," Ridge said. He hunched his shoulders. He felt embarrassed having to ask Tern to teach him what to do. He always felt awkward having to ask for help. But asking a sea-elf he barely knew? It was a far better leap than asking one of his own tribesmen. Tern obviously knew what he was talking about. Such a handsome and smooth talking elf like Tern was the best to ask. It was clear that Tern knew what he talked about Ridge wouldn't trust this task with anyone else. He had to learn to dance.

Tern nodded, “Alright,” he said in a business-like manner, though he still had no idea what he was going to do. “I’ll be the lucky elf maiden then. Or, would you like to be her first, so I can demonstrate? That doesn’t matter right now, though. First, we need to see you on your own a bit. I’ll hum something and you try and move to it. Like this.”
Tern began part humming, part singing as upbeat and festive a tune he could manage. He danced about on light feet, moving wherever his body chose to take him. “Try not to think about it,” he advised, still dancing, “Just let go and see what happens.”
He stopped dancing, resumed humming, and started to clap a beat for Ridge.

Looking at at Serpent Fang another warm smile on her face. "Thank you, everything looks wonderful and interesting but makes for difficult decisions. Sort of like trying to fish with my spear off of the sea rocks." she replied softly unsure if her sending back would bother the sea elf. She took note that the High One had slipped off. “My name is Brooksong” she then tried one of the scallops, her eyes closed “oh delicious.”

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Ridge listened to Tern humming and clapping. He bowed his head and listened, his foot tapping in time with Tern's claps. He moved lightly and easily, twisting and turning. It was as though he were moving through the trees, ducking beneath tree branches, dodging and turning, eyes closed. His feet shifted in the soft sand, but his mind's eye was elsewhere. The movements were light and swift, like a wolf on the hunt, nothing heavy or stationary.
It was strange to Ridge to feel the light joy and excitement of simply moving to the music rather than howling with the wolves. He found himself, though not consciously aware of it, loving the music and the way his muscles moved instinctively.
--
*Of course,* Serpent Fang replied curtly via sending. *Fishing off the rocks with a spear takes practice and patience.* He told Brooksong. He moved to select another scallop. His webbed fingers closing around the shell. The delicate cooking of the scallops was something he personally enjoyed and smirked at the wolf-elf's exclamation of delight. A smirk was a very rare thing from his, making his green eyes narrow farther, but pulled slightly at his lips.
*Brooksong?* Serpent Fang sent, testing the wolf-elf's name. It made him think of the tide pools that formed when the tide rushed away from the outcropping of rocks and the sound of the waves, though, no doubt it had a different meaning among the WolfFolk.
*Serpent Fang,* he informed her, maintaining curtness. He inclined his chin to her, smirk gone from his face. He had no love for the WolfFolk, but he wouldn't turn her away. He wasn't lonely, he just wanted to be in the vicinity of others.

"That's great, Ridge!" Tern exclaimed, more than a little surprised, "now we'll just have to see if you can do it with someone else. I'll jump in as if you're the girl, then you can take over whenever you think you're ready."
Still hum-singing, Tern skipped in, dancing in time with Ridge. He placed one hand around the small of Ridge's back and twirled about with him. After picking him up slightly off the ground, and swinging him around, Tern resumed to dancing in time with the other elf. He allowed their movements to harmonize with each other while still maintaining a moderate amount of contact.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Tidemist looked up at the High One and smiled in that light hearted way she did towards the elder elf. "Stormcloud, my new friend here, has agreed to embark on an adventure with me! In exchange for that drink you like so much, she'll get herself a tail and some lungs, and go swimming with me in the ocean. Might be the first full blooded WolfFolk to do that"
She laughed a little at the idea that struck her. "Maybe she won't want to leave the ocean and become a part of our tribe!" She joked. She glanced between the shorter elf and the taller. "Of course, I have all faith in your abilities oh High One. Giving this wolf gills and a tail should be easy for one of such skills." she smiled, teasing her friend mildly.

"It is very nice to meet you Serpent Fang, I guess I will just have to keep practicing," She smiled "I think I have the patience, but time will tell if I have the skill for it." She laughed lightly.
She glanced over to Ridge and Tern dancing and smirked eyes bright, her hood had slipped off onto her shoulders but she did not mind. "I am glad everyone is having so much fun." she put another scallop in her mouth chewing slowly, savoring the flavor and let out a content sigh.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Ridge gave a little gasp of surprise as Tern placed his hand on the small of his back. He wasn't used to being touched in such an "intimate" way. He gave a laugh and a smile, though. He enjoyed dancing with Tern, their movements synchronizing and harmonizing. He let out a shocked gasp when Tern picked him up and swung him around.
"Tern...!" Ridge muttered when his feet were safely back on the ground.
--
Serpent Fang nodded in agreement with Brooksong's statement. *The skill of spear fishing isn't an easy one,* he informed her. *The rocks can be treacherous and the fish aren't in the same location that they appear to be. You have to aim slightly to the side.*
Serpent Fang followed Brooksong's gaze and spied Ridge and Tern dancing. He frowned at Tern, his distaste evident. He didn't reply immediately to Brooksong's comment, feeling that it was best to keep his opinion to himself.
He turned his attention back to the (admittedly) pretty wolf-elf, noticing that her hood had fallen back. She really was very pretty when you got past the lack of fins and gills. He didn't smiled, but he watched appreciatively as the sun danced across her hair.

Brooksong started to hum along and sway to the tune closing her eyes, she started to sing quietly.
"Tides roar on the rocks swiftly, sweeping, swirling.
The vast deep, blue mysteries alluring.
Come visit me, come swim with me.
See the secrets I’m embracing.
Spanning untold wonders to behold.
Tides roar on the rocks swiftly, sweeping, swirling.
The vast deep, blue mysteries twirling."
She continued to hum along thinking of more words to complete the song.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
"I see." Stormcloud bit her lip, wondering in her mind what color her tail would be. It was a strange thought to have, and her mind took some time getting a hold of the concept. That there was something hidden in her blood, the color of a part of her that didn't even exist.
Seeing Kaimeta, Stormcloud grinned again. "You are to blame, High One, giving me that juice and making me to want more!" She joked.
She made no comment to Tidemist's words about becoming one of the SeaFolk. It was impossible, of course, so that did not need to be said. The chieftess was obviously just joking.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Serpent Fang looked suddenly at Brooksong. Her name had indicated that she was musically inclined, but he hadn't thought anything of it, but her singing was phenomenal. What shocked him the most, though, was that she was singing about the ocean. He would have expected her to sing about the forest, but the ocean? He found himself oddly pleased as he listen to her singing.
*Come away with me, come away with me
Through dangers worth facing
With sights that must be seen and cannot be told,* Serpent fang lock-sent to Brooksong, offering words for her song.

Brooksong smiled eyes still shut humming she feel so much love for his Holt and tribe in the sendings words.
Locksending back to Serpent Fang her voice soft with a feeling of wonder in responds to his words.
**Thank you, I think I understand.** and stared to sing aloud again his sending giving her insight to more words.

Sights beholden with companions true.
The ways of our lives intertwine us.
Passion and devotion does guide us.

Flightless but flying, weightless wondering.
Dancing through the water like a feather on the wind.
Soaring, diving, thriving like the birds among the clouds.

She ended the song opening her eyes.

*You know how to put feelings into words,* Serpent Fang lock-sent. He never said (or sent) anything casually, but he tried to come off as off-handed. *You seem to understand the water in a way I wouldn't expect of a WolfFolk.* This was about as close to a compliment as someone could get with Serpent Fang.
Serpent Fang regarded Brooksong curiously through narrowed eyes. He wondered about her. Where could she have learned so much about something a WolfFolk wouldn't understand? He looked at the forest and tightened his jaw. The forest was dark and Serpent Fang couldn't imagine what it would be like to have barriers of branches over his head, cutting him off from the sky spanning over the ocean. How strange must the ocean be to the WolfFolk?

Kai smiled down at Stromclould. "Well any elf will tell you I am a bad influence." She laughed. It was promising to see the wolf and sea folks getting along so well, it made Kai's heart happy. She smiled an easy smiled, when the words of Brooksong's song came lightly on the wind to her ears. She smiled at what she saw when the High One looked in the direction of the young elf. She hoped that she and Serpent Fang were getting along well.
Turning back to the small group she was with she smiled as a thought crossed her mind. "Were we all not in our finest I would set about shaping any elf that wished it for a swim." She gestured at the water, "The water does look so inviting today."

Brooksong cleaned her bowl using sand to scrub it out as she saw some other sea elves do. She then put it back with the rest and opened her bag of herbs taking the ones suitable for cooking out and some of the sweet suckles placing them in an empty bowl. Explaining to the cook briefly what they all were and could be use for if the he wished too. He seemed receptive enough to listen to her after hearing her singing.
Turning back towards Serpent Fang and locksending since he seemed to prefer that **Thank you, I love singing. I feel like it has the ability to do so much for others and that makes me happy.**
She note his look towards the forest and smiled **it’s not all bad depending on your point of view I suppose.** half shrugging with a smirk.
** I remember exchanging Holt stories with the pips when playing seek and hide with the High One when I was really little, probably at one of these festivals.**
On that thought she reached back into her bag and held up two sweet suckle blossoms. **These are from the forest and are sweet in taste if you are interested in trying it? I can show you how to eat them**

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Tidemist laughed along with Kaimeta about her comment. “Indeed! I probably wouldn't be so much trouble for my tribe if not for all the time I've spent with you.” She smiled amicably and tilted her head a bit, listening as she could hear Brooksong living up to her name apparently. She had talent for the voice and lyrical weaving...was she what the WolfFolk called a howlkeeper? Maybe she would ask later. She rolled her eyes mildly as Kaimeta talked about how she would shape any and every elf who wanted to swim. She was surprised no one had approached her yet with such a request.
“Actually, I was thinking of swimming later before the sun goes down. Helps cool an elf down, and the sun is certainly warm today!” She glanced over at the ocean, smiling wide at the sparkling blue waves. She wasn't quite hot enough yet to swim, but it did look inviting as Kaimeta had said. A thought struck her and she turned towards Kaimeta. “How come I don't ever see you with a tail of your own, High One?”

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
**I never exchanged Holt stories,** Serpent Fang lock-sent. His mind was sharp and harsh, a bite to his sending. His bitterness was almost tangible. This was something about sending he wasn't always grateful for. When touching someone's mind through sending, they could at least feel his emotions. Even though he much preferred sending, he didn't always appreciate it when others could feel his emotions through sending.
Serpent Fang looked sharply away. He crossed his arms, black hair falling over his face. He didn't want to think or "talk" about it. He turned his head back to Brooksong when she offered the blossoms. **What do they taste like?** He inquired, tentatively reaching out to take one.

**I have been told they taste like beesweets though I have never had those. I would say they are the opposite of what salt taste like.** she locksent letting the harshness of his sending roll off her mind like a dewdrop on a leaf.
It was somewhat difficult, but being the feelings were not intentionally and specifically directed at her she managed it well enough. Hoping she did not look to taken aback from the sudden harshness.
She held her blossom up rolling it at its' base as she had shown Tern, and pulling out the center stalks. then put the flower part in her mouth biting it off just before the green base.
**You can chew it or suck on it to have it last longer** she locksent.

Re: Goldsand Beach~Harvest Festival
Serpent Fang cautiously took the blossom from Brooksong and mimicked how she'd rolled it and pulled out the center stalks. He bit down on the flower with his sharp teeth. The sweet taste startled him. He wrinkled his nose, his expression was one of disgust. The sweetness was nothing like the taste of salt that came from the ocean; the taste that was in the air and the water. Sweetness was something virtually unknown to him. Serpent Fang tried not to chock on the flower, it was awful in his opinion!
**How can you like this?** He lock-sent to her, disgust evident.

Brooksong looked a bit surprised at his reaction but to each their own likes and dislikes she supposed. **Sorry the flavor is too strong, I guess I am used to the taste so it is not as strong to me. They are seasonal flowers some of my tribe like.** she looked very apologetic and held a scallop out for him to clear the flavor from his mouth.
