This has nothing to do with anything being discussed, but I'm really worried about one of my guinea pigs. I have three of them right now; I had two for two and a half years and the other I got two weeks ago. The one that I got two weeks ago (Simba) is showing some unsettling symptoms. He has two large bald patches on his neck and has been sneezing and coughing occasionally. The other two are fine, though. I've been looking on google, but there haven't been any exact matches. There have been a couple of things that look close, but nothing spot on. I'm also worried because the vet is closed for the next two days. Does anyone know anything?

Well I would let them know, since they are breeder they may know what is wrong. Also to be aware to keep and eye on their pigs since you know your two are healthy. How is he doing? Respiratory, temperature and heart rates ok on him?

He's had a cough and been sneezing. I don't know how to check a guinea pig for a fever, but his heart rate seems fine.

And I don't know much about guinea pigs, but as long as you get him to the vet ASAP, I'm sure he'll be fine Smile

If it is only a short time till it reopens, any sickness couldn't grow to be deadly. I hope he gets better, and I'm sorry that he's unwell Sad

Ask vet dosage for vitamin C tablet to give him/all you kids they can catch scurvy apparently and my tech friend say it could be skinwise either ringworm or lice? You should look into Bordetella vax if your vet approves of it. make sure you have a vet that know Piggies. Worst case repository infection. but postive thoughts your way and Simbas!!

small animals bellies will get super hot when they have a fever. If his belly is warmer than the others or what you're used to he might have a fever that could be anywhere from slight to high. the only way to really know is with a rectal temp check.

if you have any ibphrofin or however that spelled you can crush up a SMALL amount like the tiniest bit and give it to him to help with a fever, you can give that in like honey or something they like to eat. he could have allergies to his bedding or something in the house,since he's new that can happen. I know it's strange but it could be something as random as the air fresher you use or a candle smell or anything that's new to him. it's so frustrating i know. But yeah if you can get him to a vet that works with small animals he should be fine. Simba is a strong name Id bet he'll be ok.
